On the road to Dawson City
Today was the day to drive from Whitehorse to Dawson City, a 532 Km drive. Normally we try to limit our daily travel to around 400 Km just so we are not in the car all day. Today however we had to make it to Dawson City since there really isn't anywhere else to stop.
First stop was at the Braeburn lodge for breakfast. It is about 100 Km northwest of Whitehorse, place I learned about on a TV show called Canada Over The Edge. We will talk more about this place later.
Our day was spent almost entirely in the Jeep, on a road that did not have much traffic, but we managed to stop a few times for some scenic photos.
At times we felt we were on the road that never ends.
And at times the road was completely lined with these beautiful wild flowers.
The Jeep worked well today, even through the sections of highway that were under construction. We lost an hour of our schedule driving through dirt and mud in these construction zones.
Before I finish tonight's post, I teased you yesterday about Cinnamon Buns. The Braeburn Lodge serves home cooked meals and goodies. How about a cookie the size of a man's hand including his extended fingers. But the real treat and most popular desert served here are homemade Cinnamon Buns. Soft and gooey sweet, it will take both of us days to eat this.
Great photos. Don’t forget to wash the Jeep, lol. Bruce
