Tumbler Ridge - A day with Friends

We spent today with Rob and Paula, their two sons Colby and Aaron and of course their dog Talon. They made a nice breakfast for us, then took us on a road trip to Kinuseo Falls, about 60Km away from Tumbler Ridge.

The road initially reminded me of our drive on the Dempster Highway, but then it got much worse. I was glad Rob was driving and we were in his truck. He has the experience to drive this road. Had I been driving we would have taken about 3 more hours and that is only if I didn't lose it into a ditch. We did see a couple of black bears on our way.

These falls are not as large as Niagara Falls, but they are taller. The mountain run off is occurring here and the rivers are swollen and running very fast.

As we parked and walked down to the viewing site at the top of the falls, you can only imagine the power of this river as the water narrows and rushes over these falls.

We didn't try going down to a path below the falls, it was very steep and would have been a difficult climb back up.

The view from this point however was spectacular.

At another location we saw pathways to the Cascades, a 26 Km trek upstream. These would have been a great thing to see but this trail would take a few days to complete.  Also at the 7Km point on the trail, you would have to cross a suspension bridge over the river. I know I've already crossed one of these in Whitehorse, however this one is more of a rope railing type of bridge, neither Paula or I would ever been able to take on this challenge.

So we headed back to Tumbler Ridge, and spent a great time talking, catching up with these friends and they (Paula) made a wonderful dinner for us.  We both enjoyed this day very much!

Tomorrow we are up and heading back to Edmonton, Alberta. It will be our last long day in the car and we will make one more post when we arrive to close off this adventure.
